CCR - After the Commercial
Our project is geared towards athletes and different sports competitors around the world. We are trying to attract athletes to drinking Gatorade as we claim it hydrates better than water. Its also geared towards the teams, fans, coaches, and others that may view or partake in any sport.
My group’s project gets our audiences’ attention because it shows how beneficial Gatorade is. We made sure to incorporate different shots and angles that portrayed different meanings in the commercial. Such as an uneasy effect with the Dutch angle, and an extreme close up so that the audience knows exactly what is happening. After this, we had up-beat music and a cool finish with the soccer ball being shot perfectly into goal, and the video ending with the promotion of the Gatorade logo. I think the audio and music at the end will have people wanting to rewatch the ending multiple times.
I would most likely try to get this commercial out to my audience through promoting it on different platforms. Such as different social media platforms, and have it marketed on Gatorade’s website and different media accounts. But, if I was truly on that level with this commercial, I would market it through the television on different sporting events, such as a soccer game, a football game, or even volleyball. I could promote it through the Super Bowl if I truly had the money for that, and that would be distributed to most of the population of the United States as many watch the commercials at the Super Bowl.
My production skills developed throughout this project greatly. My editing skills, such as making cuts, or adding sound and audio was developed furthermore. My acting skills were also improved on this project, I learned how to act and seem a certain way, in this project I required to appear dehydrated and tired, which I believe I did a good job on my part. I also learned the meaning of different shots and angles in film, and this helped us decide what angles we would want to use for our commercial. Something I did dislike about this project was the length of some shots made the commercial feel a bit more awkward. Some should have been cut down, and others lengthened. Overall, this project helped me realize that as of right now I don’t believe I wish to have a career in media, but that may change as I go on with this course. Something I believe could be improved the next time we do the project is definitely with the audio. As I said before, it felt really weird and awkward just having no background noise from the location at all, and made the project feel almost empty at times. The only time it really had a lot of livelihood was at the final few seconds, which is something I dread and hope to improve on the next project.
My group used different technologies and software’s to complete this project. We used technology such as our phones, and other tools like a tripod to help with adjusting the angles and shots. We used software mostly for the editing, we decided to use Open Shot Video Editor. This helped us with compiling all the videos we had taken from our phone into one, and then add cuts and music to where was needed. I learned how to use this app through conversating with my teammates on calls, and looking at videos online on how to properly edit using the app.
