Editing Blog: Music and fixing

Image
For the editing, I helped out a lot in the music portion. First, me and my group mates met on a call, and we began to discuss what we should add, or fix for the commercial. As I said, my portion was pretty much the music and fixing any bugs or glitches in the film. I had to make sure that the music would fit the overall theme and tone of the commercial. This ended up being a more intense and dramatic music to fit the commercial. I then had to make sure the music fit the overall pacing and different shots of the commercial. This way a really intense part of the music wouldn't play for just me doing something simple like setting up the ball. Other than this, I made sure that the music would cut off at certain moments where we needed the audio to be emphasized.  I also made sure that it fit within the time frame of the commercial and wouldn’t go over the time we needed. I sent my group mates around 3 different choices of music for the commercial. One of them being lighter and more upb...

Production Blog: Holiday Park, During the Filming.

Image
I was the main actor for the filming of the commercial. My group met on the 21st of September, at around 1 PM. We ended up filming at my suggested location of Holiday Park. As the main actor of the film, I was filmed for most of the shots. I had to retake some of my shots such as the one where I drink the Gatorade bottle. This is because we were deciding on which shot looked the best, but however having different colors. Basically, it wouldn’t have made sense if I caught a blue Gatorade bottle and then drank an orange one. I also had to put water on my face and clothes as to appear sweaty. I also acted as if I was out of breath, so I did a lot of deep breathing for sound effects. So, during the entire film I was extremely tired due to the heat, and this hopefully added to the effect of Gatorade being hydrating. Other than this, I also had to run some laps around the field to appear more dehydrated and tired. I was wearing my soccer attire for the entirety of the commercial. I had ...

Production Blog, Before the Filming.

Image
Before the commercial, I contributed to getting my equipment and some for the team itself.  I got athletic clothes, soccer cleats, brought some soccer balls. The idea of advertising Gatorade by using soccer was my idea that I pitched to the group. Now going back to the equipment, I had to make sure I looked the part of a soccer player, so I had to bring extra stuff like high socks. After this I also set up different props and guidelines for how we would shoot the commercial. I also made sure to bring waters and beverages for my team while we were out filming our commercial. I helped and decided for my team where we would film, and on what day. We ended up filming at Holiday Park, which was my suggestion for the team. Along this I also helped set up our back up plan just in case it was to rain, or a teammate would be unable to be at the filming of the commercial. I also helped direct the process of the film through the storyboard. I made many suggestions and additions to the s...

Our Storyboard

Image
Scene 1:   The camera is looking down at the ground. The ground is bare, and there’s little movement.  Scene 2:   The camera shifts to show someone setting a soccer ball with their foot. The ball is placed carefully as the camera lingers on it for a moment.  Scene 3:   A close-up of player 1, who is visibly sweaty, emphasizes their exhaustion. Audio of player 1 breathing heavily plays in the background.  Scene 4:   The audio bridges into the next shot. The next shot is from player 1’s point of view, looking at the goalkeeper (player 2). This shot is at a Dutch angle, adding tension and unease. The camera's movement is unstable, mimicking player 1’s disoriented state. There are blurring effects to further emphasize that player 1 is dehydrated.  Scene 5:   An eye-level shot is taken from player 1’s side. A whistle blows, signaling a timeout. Player 1 is thrown a bottle of Gatorade from behind the camera. They cat...

Planning For Our Commercial

Image
Props:  Since we decided to produce a Gatorade commercial, our main prop is a bottle of Gatorade. Other props include a soccer ball, goalkeeper gloves, and the goal itself.  Costumes:  In our group we will have 2 people acting in this ad. Our actors will wear athletic clothing. They would also wear athletic shorts with a soccer jersey. Also, while wearing cleats as an actual soccer player would. Our goalkeeper would wear goalkeeper gloves. With just a simple plain athletic outfit. Including athletic shorts and a plain or logo branded shirt.  Schedule:  On 9/14/2024 Our group will research different formats and codes of sports drinks commercials.  On 9/17/2024 Our group will acquire the props, costumes, and finalize the backup plan, and location for filming.  On 9/18/2024 Our group will create the storyboard for our 30 second commercial.  On 9/23/2024 Our group will film the commercial.  On 9/24/2024 Our group will begin editing and adding fin...

My Pitch

Image
Pitch #1:   Advertisement about shoes, multiple jump cuts of someone doing sports while wearing said shoes.   Originally, I was more interested in filming this idea. I think that it would be a very high-quality production and would really stand out from the other commercials. I thought that the acting would be pretty simple, and that it wouldn't require as much speaking as the second pitch. However, I also believe that it needed more difficult shots which would be hard to get with a normal camera, and also, we might not have the equipment needed. This pitch was also more difficult on the editing portion, and we don't know if we have the skills required for it. Pitch #2: Ad about sports drink: A boy got done with a sport of choice and he is tired and dehydrated, and then drinks a sports hydration drink to feel better hydrated and recover. After the conversation, I became more interested in filming this idea about the sports drink. Sport hydration drinks are relevant ...

Group Blog

Image
I have chosen to work in a group for this project. One member of my group is Lucas Hale-Florez. I chose him because I know I will be able to meet with him outside of school in case I need to record outside of school. I also know that he will be free to record on weekends or even after school. Another reason why I chose him is because I have spoken too and talked to Lucas for a long time now. And I also keep in touch with him on a regular basis whether on school or outside of school. The next member of my group is Robert Neagu. Robert is in my group because I recently made friends with him and he said he was decent at editing. So he will be working on that mostly. My next member of my group is Khamaree Jeudy.  Khamaree is one of my good friends and I have spoken to him for a while. I know I will always be in contact with him throughout the project. I also know that meeting with him won't be a problem. I chose these two as my group mates due to their work ethic. I know that the...
