Production Blog: During the filming of the Music Video
Other than being a main actor as previously stated in my other blog, I assisted with other things during the filmmaking process. One of these being suggesting ideas and giving feedback on how the camera should be positioned during the shot. I often gave feedback to my groupmates who asked how we should film a certain scene or what type of angle to use, and this in turn helped the video come out more smoothly. I suggested that we filmed the scene of me running outside using a tracking shot, as this would work better than a pan as previously wanted. I also helped in saying whether we should use a high angle, low angle, or tilt for the shot of me strapping on boxing gloves. Whenever my groupmates needed help or wanted to discuss how we should perform a scene, I was always there to speak out and help them. Sometimes it would be difficult on choosing what angle or movement worked the best for certain scenes, especially the beginning scene where I walked towards the clubhouse. I helped in being a middle ground and deciding that we should probably start from behind me instead of in front as a groupmate had wanted. Another thing I helped with during the film was providing a camera (my phone) that could be used for the film. This was because my phone was newer than my peers and allowed to record at a higher quality than the rest. I gave my team another option when it came to recording videos. This allowed for a easier, more fluid way of filming for my group. I also played a role in helping my friend direct the order of the scenes and shots. Even though this wasn’t something I focused on, I wanted to make sure I could do all I can to help support the team. There was however, something that was a hinderence which was the tracking shot scene. It was difficult not only to perform but to help my group get the right angles. This occured mainly because I asked another group member to run with me, which could cause the camera to shake. This resulted in having to refilm the same scene multiple times. I ended up being the deciding member on which scene to use for the final product however. Although I tried to help my group with this issue, it came out better but still not as perfect as we intended.
